Duane DeMott

Duane Fay DeMott, age 78 of Oxford passed away early Monday morning, July 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Duane was born at home on the family farm in the town of Westfield on March 12, 1937 to Victor and Hazel (Blackburn) DeMott. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1954 and later married Dawn Colburn on August 31, 1956 in Grand Marsh. Duane returned to the family farm in 1959, working the land and milking cows until he retired in 2014. Duane was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He also enjoyed playing different musical instruments, playing cards and traveling whenever possible. Duane's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to him and brought much joy into his life. He will be greatly missed. Duane is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dawn and two children: Dean (Donna) of Oxford and Wanda (Tim) Lagoe of Wake Forest, NC as well as three grandchildren: Sheena (Jake Moody) DeMott, Brittany (Aron) Luchterhand and Jaden (Andrew) Lee. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Dirk and Cheyenne as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. Daune is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Garth. A graveside prayer service for Duane will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the New Chester Cemetery, town of New Chester, Adams County. Pastor Brenda Pulver will lead the service.
