Dorothy Pejchar

Dorothy Louise Pejchar , age 82 of Brooks passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at her home.  Dorothy was born in Milwaukee on December 14, 1938 to Max and Irma (Ninnmann) Brueckner.  She married John Pejchar in Milwaukee on July 20, 1963 and from that union came three children.  Dorothy and John lived and raised their children in Lyons, Illinois until relocating to the Brooks/Oxford area.

Dorothy loved spending time with family and was an avid card player and loved to bowl, go fishing and play bingo, known to her grandchildren as Bingo Grandma. Throughout her life, she found joy in volunteering in her community where many knew her as “Dottie”.  She spent many hours teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School starting at age 13. Later in life, she played an active part in several bands sharing music at picnics, fairs and especially in nursing homes. Dorothy created and was also the Director and Teacher of the Tiny Tots preschool program for the Recreation Department for the City of Lyons for many years. Following her teaching career, she became the smiling face and voice as the dental receptionist for Advancements in Dental Care in Brookfield, IL. Her greatest talent was being a wonderful wife and caring mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy leaves behind her husband of 57 years, John and three children: John M. of Lyons, IL, Janet (Alan) May of Algonquin, IL and Robert of Oxford and three grandchildren: Hannah, Christopher and Elise May. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margarete Brueckner and other extended family members.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Brueckner.

Private family services will be held for Dorothy Pejchar with burial to follow at the New Chester Cemetery.
