Donna Holmes

Donna M. Holmes, age 72 of Montello passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday evening, April 10, 2011 at her home. She was born in Madison on August 23, 1938 to Jesse and Agnes (Esse) DeWitt. She was a 1955 graduate of Madison East High School where she was the first female student to ever receive a scholarship. Donna was a very gifted individual; she was amazingly artistic and had an undying love for nature. Donna and her daughter owned and operated Donnas' Lawn Adornments in Montello; together they hand painted and repaired custom concrete statues. She enjoyed planting and caring for her many flowers, horses and of course her family. She will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit and also her patience in teaching others. She will be greatly missed not only by her own family but also by the many others that called her mom. Donna leaves behind her three children: David (Patty) Holmes of Sun Prairie, Donna L. (Mike Bednarek) Holmes of Montello, and Rick (Sara) Holmes of Sun Prairie. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Cheyenne Holmes and a sister, Ruby (Don) Schmudlach of Lodi. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many dear friends. Donna is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Neupert. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Donna's life will be held at a later date at Donna's home. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is serving the family. www.CrawfordFH.com
