Donald “Don” Lester Boelter, age 91 of Oxford passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home. Don was born in Athens, Wisconsin on June 9, 1930 to Gerhardt and Hattie (Hardt) Boelter. He graduated from Bayview High School in Milwaukee in 1950 and went to work for the City of Milwaukee. Don was united in marriage to Yvonne Wilkum at Christ Evangelical Church in Milwaukee on November 26, 1960; together they were blessed with five children.
Don retired from the City of Milwaukee after 36 years of faithful employment in 1988 and shortly after relocated to rural Oxford. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oxford and enjoyed the outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. Don loved his family and spending time with them was so important him, he will be greatly missed.
Don leaves behind his wife of almost 61 years, Yvonne and four children: Brian (Cecilia) of Pewaukee, Edward (Monika) of Oxford, Amy (Joe) Corrao of Caledonia and Russell (Michelle) of Oxford. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Kyle Karstaedt as well as many grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Don is preceded in death by parents, daughter, Gail Karstaedt and siblings: Verna, Linda and Gordon.
A memorial service for Donald Boelter will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Don’s name.
