Donald Johnson

Donald "Donny" Johnson, age 62 of Racine and Montello passed away Sunday morning, October 20, 2013 at the Montello Care Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Donny was born in Alexandria, MN to Herbert and Harriet (Carlstrom) Johnson on November 8, 1950. He grew up on a dairy farm near Brandon, MN and graduated from Kensington High School in 1968 and furthered his education at UW-Parkside. Donny went to work for Marsan's Screw Company in Racine as a machinist and later married Lavonne Person on October 15, 1988; she preceded him in death on September 28, 2003. Donny was an avid sports fan, always cheering on his beloved Vikings, Cardinals and Badgers. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching nascar races. While in Montello, he attended The People's Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. Donny is survived by two siblings: Dennis (DiAnn) of Oak Grove, MN and Carol (Darrell) Davidson of Benson, MN as well as his son, Kipp Burchell of Oshkosh and son-in-law: Jim Hardie of Montello. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Luke, Crystal, Lori, Delia and Kayla and 3 great-grandchildren: Halie, Jaydon and Arbor. Donny is further survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Donny is preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne, parents and daughter, Kim Hardie. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The People's Church, 3045 15th Road, Montello. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Mark Hensley will officiate and private family inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Racine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
