Donald Bartelt

Donald 'Don' W. Bartelt, age 79 of Montello passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 16, 2012 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Don was born in Milwaukee on July 17, 1932 to Gilbert and Norma (Bantlin) Bartelt. He served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1951 until 1954. During that time, on October 3, 1953 he married Elizabeth Baggett in Clarksville, TN and from that union came three sons. Donald was employed by Wisconsin Electric until he went to work for SM Chrysler-Plymouth where he received salesman of the year awards. He opened and operated Highway 32 Auto Sales and Service in Oak Creek until moving to the Montello area in the late 1970's. In the Montello area, he owned and operated Pine Ridge Auto Body followed by employment with a cable layers group. In his spare time Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring antique automobiles. He was an outgoing, social and well-liked person and will be missed by all who knew him. Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and three sons: Dennis of Milwaukee, Daniel of Montello and Dale of Packwaukee. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Cassandra (David), Joshua, Jeremy, Crystal (Gary), Daniel Jr. and Amanda as well as five great-grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Crawford Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of service. Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa will officiate and burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello will take place at the Montello City Cemetery.
