Derek Ferch

Derek David Ferch, age 24 of Montello, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in La Crosse. Derek was born in Berlin, WI on February 24, 1988 to David and Judy (Holmes) Ferch. He was a 2006 graduate of Sun Prairie High School and was most recently working for a commercial fishing company from the La Crosse area. Derek loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sports of all kinds and played football for the Sun Prairie Cardinals while in high school. When Derek wasn't in the woods or on the water he was spending time with his family. He had a wonderful, charismatic and gentle personality and anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with him, will never forget him. Derek is survived by his parents: David (Fredrika Paul) Ferch of Montello and Judy (Robert Straub) Holmes of Green Bay and three siblings: Bailey Lalor, Alex Schiltz and Lucy Ferch. He is also survived by his niece, Ava Rae and nephew, Ryan Kole as well as his maternal grandfather, Roger Holmes and paternal grandmother, Marion Ferch. Derek is further survived by special friend, Lindsay Walker as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Derek is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dena Holmes, paternal grandfather, DuWayne Ferch. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 453 E. Park Street, Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Scott Walters will officiate and following the traditional service Derek will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
