Dennis Alan Wacholtz , age 78 of rural Montello passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Dennis was born in Milwaukee on April 11, 1944 to Harold and Louise (Secora) Wacholtz. Following high school, he married Linda Lou Weckwerth and together raised three children and later divorced. Dennis married Ramona Hoffman on June 12, 1992.
Dennis worked for the Marquette County Highway Department and retired after 37 years of faithful employment. He always stayed busy with his many interests: fixing things, tinkering in the garage, hunting, fishing and even flying airplanes. Dennis was a friend of the Lord and devout member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his incredible work ethic.
Dennis is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Ramona, three children: Cindy (Marc) Schmidt, David (Laurie), Dawn Wacholtz and two step-children: Tammy (Dennis) Madsen and Justin (Nicci) Polakowski. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Shoshauna, Sierra, Lukas (Jordan), Logan (Ashley), Seth, Zach, Michael Jr., Katana, Charlene, Kyle and J.J. as well as six great-grandchildren: Hunter, Mason, Austin, Zane, Chloe and Remington. Dennis is further survived by his siblings: Paula (Russell “Wobby”) Wobschall, Richie, and Cathy Nikolai as well as other extended family members.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Scott Nikolai, and special friend, Rudy Filip.
A funeral service for Dennis Wacholtz will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside and burial will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Fairburn (near Berlin) at 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
