DeLon "Lon" Neumann, age 75 of Montello passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2015 at his home. Lon was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Hubert and Lucy (Ewing) Neumann on June 1, 1940. He graduated from Mitchell High School and went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Navy. Following his time in service he received his Bachelor's Degree from Spencerian University. Lon married Darlene Volesky on February 29, 1964 in Milwaukee and together they were blessed with two children. Together they worked and lived in Chicago as well as the Milwaukee and Madison areas. In 1996 they purchased property on Buffalo Lake and spent weekends there until moving to Montello permanently in 2008. Lon enjoyed fishing, horse racing as well as traveling. He was an active member of the Montello Lions Club, serving as a transporter for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin. Lon also volunteered at the Care and Share Food Bank, the Guardian Angels as well as the Salvation Army as a bell ringer. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren. Lon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene and two children: DeLon "Michael" (Paula) of Colgate and DeLaura (Brian) Pickett of Butler and two grandchildren: Samuel and Rebecca. He is also survived by his brother, Larry (Mary), brother-in-law, Darryl (Lynda) Volesky as well as nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews as well as honorary grandchildren: Brad, Alyssa, Blake and Mikayla. Lon is further survived by special friends: Franklin and Bette Lee and Charlie and Kathy Pickett. A funeral service for Lon will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Mark Hensley will officiate and following the traditional service, Lon will be cremated. Immediately following the service, military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 351 of Montello. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Montello Lions Club or the Care and Share Food Bank of Marquette County.
