Debra Schmitz

Debra 'Deb' L. Schmitz, age 49 of Montello, passed away unexpectedly, early Monday morning, June 4, 2012 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Deb was born in Cross Plains, WI on August 25, 1962. She was raised in DeForest and later moved to the Montello Area and married Dale Schmitz on September 19, 2003. Deb enjoyed the outdoors; deer hunting, gardening as well as canning the fruits that she grew and picked. She also had the gift to craft and sew. Deb adored her family; especially her nieces, great-nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. Her caring ways and kindness will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have her as a part of their life. Deb leaves behind her husband, Dale, three step-sons: Bradley (Malia) Schmitz of Oxford, Joshua Schmitz of Westfield and Danny Schmitz of Beaver Dam and four step-grandchildren: Hannah, Malakai, Payton and Madalynn. She is also survived by her parents: Tom Hauge and Sharon Jansen and her siblings: Brenda (Martin) Canales, Tami Black and Tom Hauge as well as former brother-in-law, Lynn Black. Deb is further survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ernest and Joan Schmitz and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. Deb is preceded in death her maternal grandmother, Beatrice Runk, aunt, Shirlee Fincher, paternal grandmother, Lenore Bingham and uncle, Lyle Hauge. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Crawford Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa will preside and following the tradition service Deb will be cremated. A private family inurment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Packwaukee Township at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
