David Thery

David "Uncle Dave" Thery, age 78 of Montello passed away peacefully Monday evening, October 12, 2015 at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon. David was born in Racine on June 28, 1937 to Henry and Florence (Etteldorf) Thery. He served his country as a member of the United States Marines and following his time in service he married Marylu Villarreal in Racine. Together they owned and operated Uncle Dave's Tap in downtown Montello for many years. Marylu preceded David in death on June 18, 2005.

He was affectionately known as "Uncle Dave" and loved by so many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a diehard Packers and Brewers fan. Uncle Dave was a bartender for almost all his life; even after retiring to Arizona he tended bar before returning to Wisconsin to be closer to his friends and family. His personality and witty sense of humor will be greatly missed. David is survived by his brother, Daniel (Yvonne) of San Jose, CA and sister, Doris (Thomas) Dresen of Racine. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Solberg as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Diane. A visitation for David will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home of Montello. At 11:30 a.m. a brief prayer service will be led by Father Tim Renz. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello will follow the service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Montello. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred for a memorial that is being established in David's name.
