Claragene Schmidt

Claragene Schmidt, age 89 of Montello and formerly of Hinsdale, IL passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Montello Care Center. Claragene was born in Antigo, Wisconsin on February 17, 1926 to Eugene and Clara (Holroyd) Tappa. She married Henry Schmidt in Kenosha on December 18, 1945. They raised their family in Hinsdale and she went back to school and earned her teaching degree at age 58. Claragene taught dyslectic children and their teachers for many years. She and Henry recently moved to Montello to be closer to family. Claragene is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Henry and six children: Mary "Kathy" (Wayne) Tejcek of Montello, Stephen (Vickie) of Janesville, CA, Mary "Terry" (Gary) Marcosa of Reno, NV, Henry "John" (Eileen) of Hinsdale, IL, Robert (Irene) of Janesville, CA and William (Lisa) of Reno, NV. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Claragene is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Claragene Schmidt at a later date.
