Chester Mozden, age 90 of Packwaukee passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday evening, May 3, 2013 at UW Hospital in Madison. Chester was born in McKees Rocks, PA to Mikolaj and Blanc (Szura) Mozdzien on September 7, 1922. He attended school Pennsylvania and also Chicago. Chester valiantly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Force as a bomber in the European Theatre. He married Helena Pyrek in 1978 and together they moved to the Montello area in the mid 1990's. Helena preceded him in death on March 27, 2013. Chester was a collector of many things, war memorabilia and stamps were two of his favorites. He enjoyed his family, but at the center of his life was his wife, Helena. They did everything together and enjoyed helping others. Chester was a very devoted member of the Catholic Faith as well as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Montello. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life, outgoing personality and his witty sense of humor. Chester is survived 3 children: Zbygniew (Ela) Jaholkowski of Poland, Krzysztof (Danuta) Jaholkowski of Frankfurt, IL and Malgorzata (Andrzej) Zalucki of Packwaukee. He is also survived by three grandsons, five granddaughters as well as seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Chester is preceded in death by the love of his life, Helena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Father Dave Carrano will preside and burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 will follow the mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello.
