Carol M. Polk, age 72 of Montello died at her home surrounded by her family Friday evening, November 1, 2013. Carol was born July 11, 1941 the second child of Joseph A. Resop and Doris Voeltner Resop in Berlin, WI. Carol married Robert S. Polk on March 5, 1960. Carol was a woman of strong will and faith; she lived that out through her church, family, and career as legal secretary and register in probate for Marquette County. Carol also enjoyed gardening and reading and most of all spending time with her family. Survivors include her five children: Rob (Judy) and their son, Tyler, Dawn (Jerry) Calnin and their children, Curtis (Lauren) and Jocelyn, Sue (Dale) Kozlowski and their daughters, Sarah (Ryan) McReath and Abbie, Randy (Bonnie) Polk and their daughters, Ciara (Matt) Neuhauser and their son, Ethen and Morgan and Paige and Rodney (Sarah) and their son, Jake. She is also survived by four brothers: Joe (Nancy) Resop, Reverend Michael Resop, Dennis (Stacy) Resop and Paul (Sue) Resop. Carol is further survived by brothers-in-law: Jeff Walker, Bernard Rodensal, Art (Barb) Polk and Bud (Carolyn) Polk as well as five sisters-in-law: Lil Kretzmann, Elaine Mueller, Doris Jesse, Ellen (Richard) Czech and Faith (Don) Gatzke.
Also surviving Carol is her special aunt Eloise Young, special friend Jill Bialczyk and many other relatives and dear friends. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Sharon Walker and Betty and Joann Resop and one brother, John Resop. She is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Walter Polk, Martin Mueller, Harold Jesse and Norman Kretzmann as well as sister-in-law, Carolyn Rodensal and nephews, Andrew Polk and Curtis Walker and niece, Barbara Bates. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church and again on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Father David Carrano, Father Mike Resop, Father Gary Krahenbuhl and Father Michael Richel will concelebrate the mass. Following the funeral mass, Carol will be cremated and private family inurnment will take place at the Montello Eastside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
