Brendan David Wegner, age 21 of Montello died unexpectedly on September 14, 2011 as a result of an accident while working on an oil rig in North Dakota. Brendan was born on April 2, 1990 in Portage, WI to Kevin and Peggy (Bruchs) Wegner. Brendan attended elementary school at St. Peter's (Reedsburg), St. John's (Montello) and was a 2008 graduate of Montello High School. He furthered his education at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, MI for Electrical Line Distribution. Following school he was employed by Oakdale Electric Cooperative for summer work and then continued on to Higher Power LLC of Stanley, ND and wasn't until recently that worked for Carlson Well Services, Inc. in the oil fields near Williston, ND. Brendan loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, snowboard and wheel n' deal. He also loved to take his Dad's Harley for long rides, and anything else he could do outdoors. Not forgetting to mention his devotion to farming and all animals; Brendan always wanted to be a farmer. While in High School he was in athletics with Basketball being his passion as well an active member of the FFA. He was also a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church where he was confirmed. Brendan had a gift to talk; he was able to strike up a conversation with anyone and talk for hours. He was kind hearted with a free spirit that led him on many different adventures and his love for life was contagious. His heart warming smile and many gifts will be greatly missed. Brendan is survived by his parents: Kevin and Peggy Wegner of Montello, brother, Myles (Ashley) of Appleton and nephew, Easton. He is also survived by maternal grandmother, Flora Mae (Vern) Zink of Oxford and paternal grandparents, Gerald (Donna) Wegner of Westfield and seven aunts and uncles: Dale (Gail) Wegner of Davidsonville, MD Linda (Eric) Sorge of North Freedom, Brian (Sheila O'Brien) Wegner of Sun Prairie, Randy Bruchs of Oxford, Michael (Amy) Bruchs of Poynette, Sheila (Lansing) Tyler of Denver, CO and Danny (Jennifer) Bruchs of Oxford. Brendan is further survived by his special friend, Stephanie Busse and his Lab companion, Mossy along with many other relatives and countless friends. Brendan is preceded in death by his grandfather, Harlan Bruchs and two aunts: Laura Wegner and Maribeth Bruchs (God Mother). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Montello with Pastor Pete Zietlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22nd at the church and also from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
