Blanche Metcalf

Blanche Irene Metcalf, age 85 of Montello passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015 surrounded by her family at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield. Blanche was born on March 1, 1930 to Walter and Jessie (Hall) Metcalf at home in the town of Packwaukee, Marquette County. She was a graduate of Montello High School in 1948. Blanche married William Robinson in May of 1950 and together had raised their eight daughters in Montello and later divorced.

Blanche was very involved in the community, serving as the secretary of the Montello Chamber of Commerce for many years. She worked many various jobs in the area and most notably as a waitress at Ben Deano's Supper Club as well as the office manager of the Wisconsin Power and Light office and owned and operated the Montello Theatre. Blanche was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She will be remembered for always looking for the next treasure at a garage sale and her Christmas decorations and lights. Blanche loved the family gatherings at her home and spending time together. Blanche is survived by her eight daughters: Linda (Stewart) McReath of Montello, Sally (Donald) Lloyd of Montello, Barb (Keith) Bandt of Hermanstown, MN, Laura (Gary) Moeller of Lodi, Janet (Steve) Sheller of Montello, Renee Gilmore of Janesville, Becky (Dennis) Klapper of Montello and Lucy (Dean) Hess of Mosinee as well as 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings: Vincent of Montello, Bob (Diane) of Montello, Eunice (Ken) Soda of Princeton and Judy (Jack) Steinhaus of Briggsville as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Blanche is preceded in death by her parents, father of her eight daughters, William Robinson, three siblings: Mary Lou (Leo) Bisch, William (Delores) and Max (Katie) as well as sisters-in-law: Mary Ann and Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial for Blanche will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday evening from 4:00 until 6:45 p.m., at 6:45 a rosary service will begin. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Father Tim Renz will preside and following the traditional service, Blanche will be cremated. Private family inurnment will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Montello. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred for a memorial that is being established in Blanche's name.
