William “Bill” R. Gemoll, age 67 of Montello (Lake Puckaway) passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at home on Thursday, June 1, 2023. He was born on July 2, 1955 the son of Ralph and Florence (Lyskowski) Gemoll in Wind Lake, Wisconsin. He graduated from Muskego High School in 1973 and married Caroline Evica at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Milwaukee on April 24, 1994. They worked and lived in the Milwaukee area until relocating to rural Montello in 2004.
Bill was an avid hunter and loved to fish, enjoying the outdoors whenever he got the chance. He liked to cook and was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family. He would often cut wood for neighbors, friends and weekend campers. Bill had many occupations: he worked for Delta Airlines, Milwaukee Bulk Terminal, Brakebush Bros, Wilson Hurd Printing and also butchered for Piggly Wiggly part time. He served the community of Wind Lake as a volunteer fireman and the City of Milwaukee as an EMT. During his downtime, Bill and Caroline would spend time bowling in local leagues. Bill was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church in Montello, serving as an officer and always helped with the well-known fish fry's and soup n’ sandwich dinners. He was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols, where he served as a director and mentor to other members. Most important to Bill was his family, spending time with them brought him great joy and he will be remembered for kindness.
Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Caroline, three daughters: Kayla (Travis) Antoniewicz, Kristina Gemoll and Rachael Kaster and five very special grandchildren: Travis Fluker, Amaya Fluker, Aleisha Fluker, Madelyn Antoniewicz and Harvey Kalawa. He is also survived by brothers-in-law: Vince (Sandy) Evica, Mark Evica, Frank (Dawn) Evica, Tim (Jenny) Evica and George Schmid as well as sisters-in-law: Annmarie Evica, Patricia (Dave) Osterbrink and Patty Gemoll. Bill is further survived by many other extended family members.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Frank and Sylvia (Mommaerts) Evica, siblings: Thomas Gemoll, Harry (Carla) Machajewski, Kathy Schmid, Fred (Mary) Machajewski and Bobby Machajewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William Gemoll will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held Thursday beginning at 4:00 PM and will conclude with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will also take place at the church on Friday from 9:30 until 10:45 AM. Father Savio Yerasani will preside and inurnment will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family.
