Betty Jane Ripple, age 86 of Oxford passed away peacefully Friday evening, December 20, 2013 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo. Betty was born in Oxford on July 31, 1927 to Clarence and Helen (Fredericks) Davies. She grew up in Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School in 1944. Betty furthered her education, graduating from the Milwaukee Business College. Betty met Kenn while singing in the Milwaukee Berean church choir and married Kenn three years later on August 27, 1949. Betty and Kenn raised their five children in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Colorado before settling in Oxford on her grandmother's farm, Thanksgiving of 1973.
Betty was a very artistic and creative woman who did china painting and stained glass. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, baking, canning, playing cards and nearly always catching bigger fish than Kenn. She was a very dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford. Betty's greatest accomplishment was her family and she was very proud of all of them. She will not be soon forgotten by her family and all of the people who knew her.
Betty is survived by her five children: Warren (Judy) of North Canton, Ohio, David (Sarah) of Madison, Jon (Tammy) of Sheboygan, Wendy (Bob) Jobe of Baraboo and Cyndi Neeb (Scott Turner) of Montello. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her brother Warren, her parents, and her husband (March 2013). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Crawford Funeral Home, 306 S. Franklin Avenue, Oxford. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford, 210 Miller Street, Oxford, WI 53952.
