Arlene 'Bunny' R. (McKnight) Rasmussen, age 75, formerly of Germania passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at The Residences of Forest Lane in Montello. Bunny was born on May 5, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Keith and Clara (Kleven) McKnight. She married Russell Franklin Rasmussen on March 8, 1958 in Bensenville, IL and together they raised five children. Bunny attended Wautoma Normal School and received her teaching degree in 1969. She was a well loved columnist for the Marquette County Tribune for many years, writing the Germania News; putting in humorous stories of her life intertwined with the weekly news. Bunny worked as a waitress at the Moose Inn in Wautoma for 13 years and also was employed at PGI in Green Lake for several years. She was a very caring individual and always fought for the underdog and lost causes. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include five children: Bonnie (Rich) Jaillet of Pembroke, NH, William (Anne) of Stuttgart, Germany, Dawn (Timothy) DeBraal of Wautoma, Amy (James) Holzwart of Neshkoro and Gary (Sandy) Rasmussen of Waukesha. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Leo) LeClaire, Robin (Todd) Word, Nicole (Stephen) Watson, Ryan DeBraal, Samuel, Emily, and Anna Rasmussen and Sara, John, and David McDevitt as well as three great-grandchildren: William Word, Zoe LeClaire and Zachary Watson. She is further survived by her sister, Betty (Joseph) Reinke and special nieces: Diane (Michael) Staats and Marlene (George) Weiss and special nephew, Richard (Maureen) Loster. Bunny is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell F. Rasmussen, daughter, Martha McDevitt, sister, Nyla McKnight and many beloved aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home with Pastor George Kafer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be given in Bunny's name to The Residences of Forest Lane.
