Amanda Kay Boeker, age 31 of Madison, formerly of Germania, Marquette County passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012 surrounded by her family at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Amanda was born on June 26, 1980 in Portage to Wayne 'Bud' and Tracy (Nelson) Boeker. Amanda graduated from Montello High School in 1998 and furthered her education at UW-Oshkosh with degrees in History and Anthropology. Amanda was very proud of her work; she researched the Polio Epidemic and was published in the winter/spring 2007 edition of Voyageur Magazine. Through her work on polio she was selected to present her finding to Congress during the 'Posters on the Hill' session in Washington D.C. Following college, she was employed by Humana Insurance Company in both Green Bay and most recently Madison. Amanda enjoyed being around people; she excelled at trivial pursuit and also card and board games. She also enjoyed watching and participating in sports as well as reading. Amanda will be remembered for her feisty personality and the support she gave to others even though she endured two long battles with stage four cancer. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Amanda is survived by her parents and her two siblings: Laura (Ryan) Schmidt of West Bend and Cory Boeker of Germania as well as a nephew, Austin Schmidt. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Melanee (Glenn) Schultz, Tim (Lisa) Nelson, Missy (Donny) Heller, Jill (Neal) Cain and Jan (Dean) Below as well as her grandfather, Harlow 'Stub' Nelson. She is further survived by many cousins, other family members and dear friends. Amanda is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wayne and Gladys Boeker and maternal grandmother, Jan Nelson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Montello. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa will preside and inurnment will follow in the Germania Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
