Alma "Jean" Simpson

Alma “Jean” Simpson, age 90 of Wisconsin Dells passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at Our House Assisted Living in Baraboo. Jean was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 11, 1934 to Earl and Isabelle (Baker) Combs. She graduated from Hazard High School in 1952 and moved to Chicago where she met Ray Simpson. She and Ray were united in marriage on December 22, 1956 in Chicago. Together they lived in Chicago, Wood Dale and Glen Ellyn while raising their daughter. In 1999, Jean and Ray moved to rural Wisconsin Dells.

Jean enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden, snowmobiling, camping as well as enjoying crafting and puzzles. She took great pride in her home and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Jean will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and her kindness to everyone she met.

 Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray, daughter, Leslie (Gregory) Nemeth of Island Lake, IL as well as two grandsons: Travis (Allison) and Jesse. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Paige and Cole.

Jean is preceded in death her parents, infant daughter, Coylana, two brothers and two sisters.

 A funeral service for Alma Jean Simpson will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Jessie Stevens will preside, and burial will follow at the Oxford Village Cemetery.
