Alan "Al" John Rhinerson , age 67 of Oxford passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg with his wife and daughter by his side. Alan was born on July 9, 1951 to Norbert and Alma (Hutchinson) Rhinerson in Inglewood, California. He graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School and was then drafted into the Army where he proudly served his country. Al married Judith Smet on May 29, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. Together they lived in several different communities until settling in Oxford in 1987.
Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping and had many memorable hunting and fishing trips with his buddies. His proudest hunting achievement was when he harvested one of the biggest bears registered in Juneau County that qualified for the Boone & Crockett scoring system. He was extremely proud that he harvested the first legal wolf in Adams County since wolf season opened in the State of Wisconsin. He also hunted and retrieved multiple trophy whitetail deer. The majority of his working career he was self-employed in the manufactured housing industry and retired in 2017 working for Castle Homes Sales. He was a member of the Manufactured Housing Association and lifetime member of the Roche-A-Cri Bow Club. Al was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. He was respected by many for his work ethic and willingness to help others. Most importantly he cherished the time he spent with his grandson, Cody, and was proud to be sitting next to him when Cody shot his first deer.
Al is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy, and daughter, Jennifer (Danny) Bruchs of Oxford and grandson, Cody. He is also survived by his parents, Norbert and Alma Rhinerson and siblings: Mark, Ann (Charles) Hildebrandt, Paul (Tina) and John (Virginia) as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Tom Bailey, Peter (Mary) Smet, James (Debbie) Smet, Bill Smet, Kathy (Dave) Amond, Donna (Vince) Hopkins and Dan (Corrina) Smet. Al is further survived by his father-in-law, Francis Smet as well as many extended family members and friends.
