Adeline Henke

Adeline Helen (Smalley) Henke, age 90, of Wautoma, formerly of Montello passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Wild Rose Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1919 in Adams County, WI to Louis and Susan (Marquardt) Smalley. She graduated from Rufus King high school in 1939 and married Howard Henke on May 3, 1941 in Milwaukee. She held various jobs but mostly she and her husband owned and operated the Henke Shell Station in Whitefish Bay, WI together and eventually retired to Shields Township, Marquette County in 1980. Adeline spent the last few years in Wautoma to be closer to family. Adeline was a member of the Montello Women's Club and enjoyed traveling. She never forgot a birthday and was always caring for other friends and family members. She also had a very special feline companion named Tally. Survivors include: one son, Guy (Susan) of Mt. Morris, WI. Two grandchildren: Amy (Tony) Campisi of Lakeville, MN and Jed (Danielle) of Neshkoro. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Sydney, Trevor, and Jake as well as brother-in-law, Frederick (Dawn) Henke and sister-in-law, Dorothy Smalley. She is further survived by a niece, nephews, cousins and many friends. Adeline is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Herb (Allene) Smalley and Gilbert Smalley and sister, Evelyn (Walter) Baier. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 22 at 12:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Roger Krueger officiated. Following the service, Adeline was cremated and she will be inurned in the Montello City Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established by the family.
